10/26/13 A Big Surprise

This was a great, bad, wonderful day!!!

First we went to a cancer fun run in Provo, UT and ran a mile to support cancer. We also watched the Halloween Half and the girls had fun watching all the great costumes.

The bad was when Charity was anger at lunch time and hit Kallia right on her incision. Kallia was in so much pain she quit breathing and passed out. Luckily she quickly regained herself and was feeling better.

Then some family friends came by and brought Kallia an amazing basket full of goodies to cheer her up. She's had a hard week so this was perfect!!! Can you tell by the blurry picture she was really excited about the nailpolish???!!!!

10/14/13 Last Day of Yucky Yucky Steroids

Today Kallia had her last dose of steriods! We have been counting down to this day!!!! It makes her hungrier than a horse. It makes her chubby as she puts it. It makes her VERY moody and makes her legs hurt and ache.

Even though its yucky, steriods are to chemo like gasoline is to fire. It does a great job getting the chemo to work wonders! Yah for steriods!

Kallia also had a bone marrow aspirate and lumbar puncture this morning. Next week we find out the results of her MRD. I think she will be negative for MRD. Let's hope that's right!!

10/13/13 A Rough Night and One Month Anniversary

Last night was the roughest night yet. Kallia was in tons of pain. Her legs were hurting her terribly. She had a really bad headache and she couldn't sleep. She was starting to get a fever. We put her in our bed and I "slept" on the floor. She cried for hours about her legs hurting. Steve rubbed them for hours and every time he stopped and fell asleep she would yell waking us both back up. Around 2 or 3 I heard Steve said he would give her $5 if she would let him go to sleep. She said ok. She finally fell asleep. And then for some reason she started waking up every 30 mins to go potty. She had been getting good at going by herself and not needing a lot of help. But she could hardly walk last night so I had to help her out of bed, help her walk to the potty, hold her up, and get her back to bed. Every 30 mins until 8:00 am. It was very strange and EXAUSTING. She was doing better today but her legs hurt really bad. They are so swollen. Poor little girl.

This morning Kallia asked for her $5 and Steve had no recollection of saying that. But Kallia had a witness because I heard it!!!! We all laughed at what we would do for some sleep!

Tomorrow she has a lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspirate. The marrow will be sent to Seattle for a special test called MRD. It can detect leukemia down to the .001.

We hope she is .0000000000000000000000001

9/10/13 The Hair is Definitely Going Bye Bye

This is the pile after brushing Kallia's hair this morning. She is surprisingly OK with it. She is excited for a wig. I'm sure a wig sounds fun but I've heard they are hot, itchy, and uncomfortable for kids. We shall see. She has such a good attitude about it all right now.

10/1/13 Bone Marrow Aspirate, Chemo and Libertys Birthday

Nurse: We are done here. You can go ahead and take her back to Infusion.

Kallia: Confusion? Confusion? They are going to confuse us? NOOOOOO! I don't want to be confused!!!
